形態特徵

• Rhizome creeping, c. s. with 10 or more bundles in a ring, scaly.
• Stipes distant, 10-20 cm long; laminae simple, usually broadest near middle, tapering towards either end, about 45 cm long by 6 cm wide, sometimes ovate and rounded at base (but fronds with cuneate bases and rounded bases are found growing on the same rhizome); underside sparsely covered with small clathrate iridescent scales.
• Sori round or oval, large, covered with peltate, clathrate, iridescent dark brown scales when young; usually borne near costa and lying in a single row between the main veins or sometimes irregularly spaced.
• This species has fronds of about the same size and shape as <i>Colysis hemionitidea</i>, the sori look much alike, but the sori of this species are covered with clathrate peltate scales when young, and are borne nearer the costa and are not always in a single line between the main veins; and rhizome scales have a tuft of long hairs at their point of attachment. </p><p>Fronds with broad ournded bases have usually been assigned, to Polypodium phyllomanes Christ which is the same as <i>P. ovatum</i> Wall. <i>ex</i> Hook. & Grev. The extremes of ferns with broad bases and decurrent bases appear quite different, but there are all kinds of intermediate forms and sometimes both kinds grow on the some rhizome.
